Smeg is a famous name in electronics that is primarily recognized for its stylish retro aesthetic. Although they provide a variety of home appliances, including fridges, dishwashers, ovens, toasters, kettles, and blenders, they make their brand so popular.

Appearance

Let’s talk about appearance first, starting with the outside, just by looking at it. What a beauty this coffee machine is.

It has a retro mood that blends in with the environment of almost any kitchen with ease, adding a small dose of traditional style. Another thing that makes the product appealing is the range of cool hues, including cream, mint green, light blue, and black.

Size

The Smeg brewer is significantly larger than most conventional coffee makers because of its rounded, vintage design. If you’re concerned about space or know that your countertop is small, it would be a good idea to measure your area first and compare the results to the Smeg appliance’s specifications.

The coffee maker has a few advantages, including anti-slip feet on the bottom, which is perfect for homes with kids or animals that like to explore the counter while no one is home.

Capacity

A 10-cup drip coffee maker is the device. The cup size is 4oz instead of 8oz because it originates from Europe. The carafe holds 0.3 gallons, while the water tank has a capacity of 0.4 gallons (1.5 liters)(1.1 liters).

You end up with less coffee than the amount of water you added because the coffee grounds absorb some of the water during the brewing process. Due to this absorption, you will receive roughly 8 ounces of coffee every batch.

Taste

This depends on the coffee you are using and if it was recently roasted. The flavor will probably be your first concern if you’re a coffee fanatic. If this is the case for you, you may have observed how coffee made in plastic coffee makers has a mild flavor. The good news is that the Smeg coffee maker eliminates your need to worry about that.

It produces a pot of fresh, flavorful coffee with no off-flavors. As we drank from our second and third cups, we discovered that the flavor and smoothness of each cup were identical to those of the first.

Auto shut-off

Whether you intentionally leave your coffee maker on all the time or accidentally forget to turn it off, you should get used to the concept of this particular pot’s automatic shutoff option.

The brewer will automatically shut off after a coffee pot is finished brewing in 20 minutes.

LED display

The Smeg is a digital coffee brewer, as seen in the pictures. It is quite easy to use. The LED display, which has a helpful small backlight that isn’t too bright and does an excellent job of preventing glare, shows all of its information.

You can find all the information required to maintain your coffee brewer operating effectively on display. For example, your brewer will alert you to the time, water level, and the features “keep warm” and “aroma intensity.”

Value for money

You get what you pay for with Smeg products – style and brand recognition. There is nothing improper about that. The fashion is exquisite and distinctive. The Smeg drip coffee maker is a cost-effective method to add a wonderful work of art to your kitchen that also produces a good cup of coffee if aesthetics are your priority.

As I previously reported, Smeg unveiled the DCF02, a more contemporary version of this brewer. Although it has the same appearance, the original’s major user problems have been addressed.

Extras

Although the brewer is huge, the pot it comes in only holds 4 cups of coffee. Additionally, it frequently needs to be descaled and, in my opinion, is rather picky about the water’s hardness and level, necessitating small modifications from time to time.

Pros:

  • Automatic-closing function
  • Beautiful in any kitchen
  • Available in a range of hues
  • Keep-warm function
  • Rubber feet with anti-slip properties for stability
  • You can be sure your coffee won’t burn
  • LED fully digital display

Cons:

  • A large amount of counter space required
  • Small pot size
  • Really loud when turned on or off
  • Requires regular maintenance and descaling
  • Several additional features to improve your brew

Our verdict

The SMEG coffee maker is more expensive than devices that might not look as attractive but operate at least as well, similar to many products that emphasize aesthetics. Nevertheless, the Smeg is so exceptional and lovely that it’s worth considering.

We advise purchasing the Smeg if you’ve fallen in love with its vintage design. Just be realistic and don’t anticipate any better coffee than what you’d get from a regular drip machine. There are other solutions available, but if what you’re more interested in is dependably beautiful coffee that looks amazing.
