Review by R. Dankovcik for Timothy’s World Coffee, Spanish Sol for Keurig Brewers, 24-Count K-Cups

For starters, there is no indication anywhere, here or on Timothy’s web site, that indicates that this is actually a flavored coffee. Well, it is. My first taste was so shocking that I almost spit the coffee across the room. To say that this coffee has a “lively full-bodied flavor” is one of the biggest understatements I have ever heard. The flavor is SO complex that I cannot even begin to identify the indivdual components. It is more like a train wreck of tastes in my mouth. There is one stand-out flavor that I have as yet to identify. It might be cardamom. Not really nutmeg. Definitely not cinnamon. Whatever it is, it is strong and lasting. Well after finishing the cup the taste still lingers. I’m not completely turned off on this coffee, but I cannot drink more than once cup of this stuff in any given day and will not be buying any more of it. To be fair, it is a decent cup of coffee. But be warned that there is definitely a shock factor if you were expecting a regular cup of (unflavored) coffee and received this instead…I sure wish I had the opportunity to sample this coffee before going ahead and buying a 2-box pack…

There was no indication this was a flavored coffee but it is and the flavor is undefinable. Perhaps my coffee connoisseur friends could decipher the flavor…and tell me it is an excellent choice, but I wish I had sampled it before I bought the 2 box special.

First time I tried this, I really liked the cinnamon tones, and I usually don’t like flavored coffee. I waited for it to be released again this year and bought 2 boxes, but unfortunately either my tastes have changed or it is sweeter than last year. I think it’s a great coffee for people who like hazelnut/cinnamon flavors, but it’s not for me anymore.

The Spanish Sol is the worst flavor I have tasted. I bought a Keurig because my sister used my coffee pot to brew multiple flavors of coffee and didn’t clean the filter basket well. As a result, my plain coffee would come out tasting like a bizarre brew of French vanilla-toffee-hazlenut-mocha-cherry chocolate. This reminds me of that funk. She will probably enjoy it, but I will not reorder this one.

This is an interesting flavor – a medium bodied coffee with a fairly strong hint of anise. I like it as a “dessert” coffee, or a late morning pick-me-up. As far as I know, this flavor is unique to the Timothy’s brand. I bought a bunch of it from Amazon, because the folks at Keurig said that Timothy’s was discontinuing it. Sure hope not – it’s hard to find well flavored K-cups with a good tasting coffee base. If you like licorice, you’ll like this.
