I’ve been getting the slightly better than the cheapest at WalMart, but I don’t think I’ve had one last longer than 6 months. I just wonder if the next level up will last any longer.

I’ve had a Bunn for 5 years and it still makes good coffee.

A french press! It makes the best coffee and its not electrical at all! The only way to break it, is to smash it on purpose, and they last literally FOREVER. You can get one at target for $30.

For $9 at Wal-Mart —– I just keep replacing (about once a year) the cheapo simulated Mr Coffee. — Use distilled water and you will be pleasantly surprised. —

Edit: Wow !! French press sounds great . $30 and it lasts forever.

MR. COFFEE, we’ve had ours for 3 years, it still looks stylish, u can control the heat, the type of brew (strong, medium, or light) and if you like to wake up to coffee it has a timer and a clock to tell you how fresh it is!

I think the non-electric melittas are easy to clean, hard to destroy, and with a watchful eye on the water temp will make the best coffee possible.

We love our Keurig. It makes one cup at a time, so it’s always fresh. It gets a lot of use, and is holding up great, continuing to make really good-tasting coffee. They cost a bit (from about $120 to $250, depending on the model), but you’re spending a fortune replacing cheap pots a couple times a year.

Well, darling, I’ve got a Braun that I flat-out stole from my mother…it’s about a thousand years old, is practically held together with duct tape (well, not really, but you have to know what bits to hold on to so that nothing falls off the carafe while you’re pouring), and it makes absolutely wonderful coffee. I dread the idea of replacing it because I’m convinced they don’t make this model anymore.

You, specifically, should totally get a Braun…it would be Brian’s Braun…and that would be adorable.

I’ve had my Cuisinart about eight years, I bought it when I quit drinking. I broke a couple of carafes so I bought a stainless steel one that matches the coffee maker. I think there about a $125 new but I got mine on eBay, new for $50.
I have an old, like from collage old, stainless steel French press (actually made in Germany by Krup) I put into service when the power goes out, which is often around here.
