If you have been enjoying coffee for a long time, then you are most likely aware of the fact that to make a cup of coffee is not a hard task and yet, most people enjoy going to coffee places to buy themselves a cup of coffee. Strange, isn’t it? If we make a cup of coffee for ourselves it doesn’t seem like hard work, but if we were to purchase a cup of coffee at, say, Starbucks we think the coffee was made with a lot of hard work, which seems to justify its price and good taste.

The reason that coffee shops like Starbucks and Coffee Beans exist is that people enjoy the coffee sold there. Passing these coffee places, I wonder if these people don’t know how to make a good cup of coffee. Putting this question aside, let’s divulge into another one; how many ways can one make a decent cup of coffee?

In today’s age, technology has made the cycle of our daily life easier, and that includes making coffee. There used to be a time when coffee making machines were only found in well-known coffee outlets, but now, thanks to technology, you can buy your own coffee making machine. When coffee makers entered the consumer electronics’ market, there used be about ten of these; all for the purpose of making coffee. Now, there are so many types of coffee makers around for the many purposes of coffee, some of which were unknown to most people who are avid coffee drinkers.

Undeniably, the internet plays a big part into finding the right coffee maker for you. Like many people, searching for the best coffee makers and reviews help a lot to make the perfect choice. I have been around the world especially in third world countries where a cup of coffee is made differently. In some places in Asia, I most likely preferred to have a cup of coffee at a hawker place, which can be said to be a small-budget Starbucks outlet as people from all walks of life frequent this place. The coffee was made from powder with hot boiling water. From the big coffee jug, the hot coffee was literally sprung into a glass; it made a nice champagny foam at the top of the glass. Needless to say, I was more impressed with the stylish way the coffee was prepared. Moving on to another developing country that I was visiting, I met a woman while visiting the local market. The old lady was buying what appeared to be some black rocks and I was curious to find out what they were; turns out those were coffee rocks like I have never seen before. Not having heard the existence of a coffee maker, the lady told me that she crushes these coffee rocks and boils them in water to make her cups of coffee.

I’m glad that I belong to a generation where getting a decent cup of coffee is as easy as making instant noodles. After these trips, I value the existence of my coffee maker more. Not to say that these cups of coffee weren’t nice, but there is something as a nice homemade cup of coffee. And if it weren’t for these people, I wouldn’t know the different ways of making coffee and how we are lucky to have a simpler way of getting ourselves a decent cup of coffee.
